To begin the process, we meet with the client to gain a thorough understanding of what they want to use the panel for and the results they are interested in obtaining. The client’s specific objectives for the online community drive the methods used for recruitment.

We have employed a wide range of strategies including recruitment through mailouts, targeting through social media, newspaper and magazine advertisements, links on our clients’ websites, telephone, and customer lists.

Using social media to attract new panelists

The message in the ads will vary but are expected to contain some of the following:

Have a say.
Receive feedback on changes that have been made as a result of panelist input.
Make an impact.

Use existing client/customer communication

Include the online community registration URL on planned mail outs.
Put up posters or QR codes to the URL at any places that are visible to customers.
Include the URL on any print materials.
A newsletter to customers informing them of what’s happening.

Develop and strategically place website banner ads on

Online community newspapers/magazines.
Neighbourhood sites.
Facebook Ads.

Offer financial incentives for signing up to the panel

Offer a prize draw for those who sign up to the panel. All those panel members that sign up in a given month will be entered to win a cash prize draw.

Telephone Recruiting

Targeted recruitment can be done using a call centre, including ours. Our interviewers contact residents and ask if they would be interested in joining the panel. If they are interested the interviewer sends the link of the profile survey to the contact.

Place ads or “call to action links” on written blog pages

If the client has a blog, we would recommend that call to action links be included on the page promoting the panel and encouraging people to sign up to the panel to make a difference.

Referrals from existing panelists

The approach consists of existing panelists being provided an incentive for recruiting someone to the panel. The panel allows each panelist to have a unique URL so that when a new panelist joins, the panelist who referred them is rewarded. Each panelist can see in their online account an entry showing a new panelist having been recruited, without showing the name, but showing the reward or incentive (i.e. additional chance in the monthly draw).

Online media advertisements have proven to be very effective. Insightrix manages these advertisements and regularly renews them to ensure the advertisement stays near the top of the list.
